Week 35 of Pregnancy

You might start to feel a bond with your unborn child if you haven’t already. Some mothers don't feel a bond until after the birth and for others it might take much longer. This bonding is what gives your baby's sense of security in the world outside of the comfort of your womb. There is a 99 percent chance of the baby surviving if were born this week.

Changes in your body at Week 35 of Pregnancy

Your might have your cervix checked on your routine visits to your healthcare provider now. They will be checking for dilation which is the first signs that labour is not to far away.

Changes you may experience during the 35th week of pregnancy include:

  • Heartburn
  • Baby is taking up most of the uterus - breathing might be difficult
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Back ache
  • Swolen feet
  • Frequent urination due to baby's pressure on bladder

The average baby weighs about five and a half pounds now. This week begins your baby's most rapid period of weight gain, about 8 to 12 ounces.

Some typical developments which occur during the 35th week of pregnancy are:

  • Fat accumulations plumps up the baby's arms and legs - helps to regulate body temperature
  • Baby's hearing is fully developed
  • The testes have completed their descent in males
  • Central nervous system is maturing
