Your baby is now in complete proportion to the rest of its body. He or she is completely developed except for the extra fat that will develop from now on. All the organs are in tact but not necessarily working that well yet.
Changes in your body at Week 28 of Pregnancy
You are probably starting to feel very large by week 28 of your pregnancy. Your uterus rises to about 3 inches above your navel.
Changes you may experience during the 28th week of pregnancy include:
- Ligament pain - the feeling of pulling in the groin
- Steady weight gain
- Breasts may begin to leak colostrum
- Abdominal itching
- Heartburn
- Constipation
- Urinary incontinence
- Varicose veins

Some typical developments which occur during the 28th week of pregnancy are:
- Baby's cartilage is slowly ossifying which means it's becoming bony - this continues until birth
- Retinol layers are finishing their completion
- Baby's pupils will react to light
- Your baby's head hair is now longer than the fine hair on his or her body
- Growing eyelashes
After the 28th week of pregnancy your doctor will probably change your meeting schedule from monthly visits to visits to every two weeks. By the 36th week you will probably have to visit the doctor once a week. Women who have Rh-negative blood will receive a medication called RhoGAM to help desensitize them from their baby's blood. This injection is vital to Rh-negative mothers and baby's as it will protect you and your baby until the time you deliver.
