Week 21 of Pregnancy
Your baby weighs about three quarters of a pound now and is 19 weeks old. You will be over half way through your pregnancy now and in most pregnancy sickness should have ceased. Your hormone levels should have stabalised now so you should probably feel much more emotionally stable now. Try to get as much rest as you can from now on to the end of the pregnancy.
Changes in your body at Week 21 of Pregnancy
Your baby bump should be showing now so its time to invest in some maternity clothes. Your ankles and feet may be swelling or be swollen by the end of each day which is normal so don't worry. Try to put your feet up in the evening for at least 30 minutes.
Changes you may experience during week 21st week of pregnancy include:
- Aches and pains in your legs - gentle stretches and walks everyday should help to alleviate the pain
- Breast enlargement
- Breast leaking a yellowish discharge which is colostrum - colostrum is the first milk produced before the actual breast milk comes in
- Blood pressure might decrease slightly.
Baby's Development at Week 21 of Pregnancy - Baby size: 27cm
Some typical developments which occur during the 21st week of pregnancy are:- Digestive system developed to absorb water
- Gaining weight steadily, with fat being added to the body
- With girls the vagina is formed and the ovaries contain over six million eggs
- For boys, the testes begin to descend from the abdomen
- Taste buds have formed
