Measuring Basal Body Temperature to Get Pregnant Fast

The best ways to measuring basal body temperature boils down to deciding how, where and when you are going to take your temperature, then do it the same way every morning.

If you would like to make any changes in your routine, you should only do so at the start of your next cycle. You must take your temperature every morning waking up at the same place because different places will affect your basal body temperature differently.

There are three ways to take your temperature: vaginally, orally, or rectally. Taking your temperature via your vagina ensures the best accuracy. Understandably, many women choose to measure themselves orally.

It may never occur to you but it is important to measure your temperature at the same depth and locaiton each time. For example, if you always place your thermometer under the right side of your tongue one inch into your mouth, then always remember to place it there every morning.

Then mark your temperature on the corresponding day on your chart.

Now, the golden rule in measuring basal body temperature is this - take your temperature first thing in the morning, before you get out of bed, before you eat, drink or go to the bathroom. Do not even speak. You will be surprised how all these little actions can cause minute incremental changes in your basal body temperature and derail your tracking efforts.

Minimize your movements because movements can also increase your body temperature. So, if you are using a glass thermometer, remember to shake it down before you go to bed at night. This will prevent you from altering your basal body temperature when you wake up in the morning and start shaking that thermometer!

Take it at the same time every day. This means that you will have to wake up at the same time everyday, even on weekends when you may not be working and tempted to sleep late! That would mean that besides your thermometer and fertility chart, you will have to keep your alarm by your bedside as well. The accuracy is worth the effort. Visualize your baby...

Of course, as human begins, we can't be that punctual most of the time. A small margin of error is allowed; you can wake up within a half an hour before or after your designated time.

For this method to work well, you should have enough sleep. Your temperature is best taken after four consecutive hours of sleep. If you have erratic sleep, do try to have at least three hours of sleep before taking your temperature. Five hours or more of uninterrupted sleep would be better.

Keep in mind that there are things that can upset your basal body temperature, such as illnesses, insomnia and intake of alcohol. You should record such information into your chart so that you can interprete its unusual pattern when your BBT is affected.
