Get Your Size Back to Normal After Your Pregnancy

Who is that staring back at you from the mirror....you have your new baby and you should be thin, but you're not....you need to still lose that weight. Well, that's nothing new; a new mother usually carries 10-15 pounds of pregnancy weight after the delivery--sometimes more. What happens now. Your weight loss after pregnancy is what you should be working on instead of feeling sorry for yourself and moping around.

The time is now and you need to spring into action; get worked up about losing that unwanted pregnancy weight and start getting rid of those pounds by taking action, call your doctor and work with him/her on putting a dietary plan in place with exercises that will help you, and get moving...it won't be like falling off a log, but you can do it. The saying goes "the best laid plans of mice and men" and that holds true here; get moving...your wonderful plan will not help at all if you don't put it into action.

Don't even give a thought to those weirdo quick weight loss plans that circle like vultures in the media; they are shams and their claims of making you into a beauty icon in just weeks are false and misleading; this will be work for you and lots of effort. Even if you were in a normal physical state, these quick plans are nuts; but to use them for weight loss after pregnancy is downright crazy and dangerous for your body to handle.

This is the time to allow your body some time to heal and recover from all the swings it has recently gone through while navigating the pregnancy course; there was not only the pregnancy with all its inherent factors, but also the delivery and the toll that takes, and now breastfeeding. It would be dangerous and extremely insane to try a quick weight loss plan now that your body is trying to recover. You don't want to rush through the weight loss regimen; allow your body 9 mos. to get the pounds off and you will feel better. Follow the 9 month rule: 9 mos. on, 9 mos. off.

The weight gain during pregnancy may seem like an unneeded annoyance to you when you are carrying around those extra pounds; but that weight has a purpose in the whole scheme of things; that is the nutritional base that Mother Nature has designed your body to carry to prepare you for the purpose of providing sustenance to your baby in the form of breastfeeding. There is nothing more important to the newborn after birth than having a good source of nutrition; and Mother Nature has provided that source in the form of the breastfeeding mother who with a healthy nutritional system of her own, can be the sole support for the nutrition for that baby and its development. At a very gradual pace, the unwanted pounds collected on the mother's frame are now being shed naturally all because the baby has been weaned from the act of breastfeeding, and that weight is no longer needed for any useful purpose. As a matter of fact, a significant amount of the postpartum weight will be history after the baby is weaned.

An interesting fact here is that studies on breastfeeding mothers show them burning 700 calories a day. This is something that should be taken into consideration when you talk about weight loss after pregnancy, because it could be a major player in that arena. Your weight loss can be maximized totally by figuring in your dietary plans and your exercise regime with all the other factors combined.

Let's be serious here; you want to stick with a weight loss plan that will give you maximum results gradually, but provide sound nutrition while you are breastfeeding and taking care of the baby. It is not hard to stay healthy when you are taking care of a baby, just a fact that you must be; you cannot let your health slide nor suffer because ultimately the baby will suffer as well since he depends on you for life itself. Make sure your daily routine is one that you like and is sensible in all aspects. Make sure you have a plan that will be an adjunct to your life, because if you won't use it, then it's no good for you. Life is good; new baby, new lifestyle and a plan that works; just make sure you go over it carefully.
