Tips For Potty Training That really Work

Do you have a infant that will soon be ready for potty training? Are you wondering just how you are going to be able to handle this process? Well, here are some potty training tips that can make this time a more pleasant and easier one. The first step is determining when your child is ready. Most toddlers are ready to potty train when they are about two and a half years old. However, some begin earlier and others start a little later. To being the potty training process you should go more by the action of your child rather than their age. Start looking for indications that show they are ready.

Some of the indications to look for include being aware that they are wet or soiled and wanting clean dry clothing. If they are capable of staying dry for a couple of hours at a time and show an interest in wearing training pants they are probably ready. Two good indications to look for that will indicate your child is ready for potty training is an interest in the bathroom and the ability to dress themselves in simple outfits. It makes it much easier when they are able to follow simple instructions as well. This makes it easier for you to explain what they need to do.

The best time to begin potty training your child is in the summer because there is less clothing for them to have to deal with. This makes it easier and less stressful for the child. Usually they have only a few seconds to get to the bathroom before it is too late. Therefore, anything that makes it quicker for them makes it easier as well. All children have a tendency to want to stay dry, so if you allow them to wear training pants that lets them feel the wetness, this can help them to learn when it is time to use the potty.

Potty training takes time and patients so pick a time when you will have the time to be consistent. Otherwise, you will be wasting your time and have to keep starting the process over and over until you can be persistent. Each child learns at their own speed therefore, you cannot compare one child to another or rush the process. It is a skill that will develop according to their individual growth pattern. Never yell or punish your child for having an accident, this is normal and will happen many times. Do however, praise your child for a job well done, this will encourage them to continue. Most of all make this a fun time for your infant and it will be easier and more pleasant for everyone.
