Pregnancy and lupus

It a very well known fact that the presence on lupus in a pregnant woman has a lot of risks. Still there have been countless cases on pregnant women suffering from systematic lupus that have not only given birth to babies but hey have given birth to normal healthy babies. There are of course exceptions where lupus pregnancies have ended up in miscarriage. It is always very important for women to undergo pregnancy counseling and planning before deciding to have a baby, especially in the cases of lupus pregnancy. Numbers in studies made have shown that it is best for the mother to be nor to have had any symptoms or medication regarding lupus for at least 6 month before remaining pregnant.

Because humans as individuals are so different one from another it is nor unlikely for some women to experience flare ups before or after birth, while others show no signs or symptoms what so ever. In the first case scenario women on drugs will most likely have high blood pressure, develop hyperglycemia or even diabetes or develop kidney problems. Constant care and good nutrition during pregnancy are really necessary if the baby is o be born healthy and without problems and if the mother is to remain safe and not develop any complications. The best of measures must be taken in order to be best prepared to handle any problems or complications. Studies of the cases of lupus pregnancies have shown that about a quarter of the babies of women with lupus are actually born prematurely but don’t suffer from any defects or complications afterwards.

Scientist and doctors are doing their best to determine the causes that determine the apparition of the disease and how to best fight it and eventually defeat it. They are trying to answer problematic questions that people ask. Trying to best determines who exactly develops the disease and why is a serious problem for them. Again they are researching why women are more affected than men. On top of that certain women in minority ethnic groups have shown to have a predisposition to developing this disorder. A serious problem they are trying to find the answer to is why the immune system not only collapses but ends up attacking its own body.

In all they are trying their best in finding the best of treatments that can help us in curing this awful disease.
