Bringing The Baby Shower Outside For Family Fun

For many years baby showers have been a way for expectant mothers to get together with their family and friends, have some much needed fun, and to welcome new life. While it may be a great reason for the mom-to-be and her female friends to celebrate, there are other important people who may also want to join in on the fun. Instead of having a traditional, indoor get together with all of the usual festivities, why not move the party outdoors and include dads and all of the little ones for a whole family affair?

When throwing a baby shower, why not include the entire family and make it a fun family affair? Instead of having a traditional baby shower with all of the traditional little tea party like festivities, move the fun outside and invite the dads and the little ones of others. After all, this is a celebration of a new life!

When sending out the baby shower invitations clearly mark the details. Invite dad and the little ones of each household and let everyone know the party will be moving outside so not to worry about any child who is out of control! Then, put your heads together with your spouse and start planning for an entertaining and different baby shower.

Just because the venue and the type of party has changed doesn't mean that the fun has to. Brainstorm with your spouse, family and friends and plan on throwing a completely different type of baby shower. Showers are supposed to be great fun with plenty of games and presents for the new baby and the mom-to-be. But since dads are included in this celebration, write on the invitation that men are encouraged to bring small presents or gag gifts for the new dad. Besides being a great way to recognize dad, gag gifts are a great way to loosen up the guys, who of course aren't used to attending baby showers, and to simply add to the fun of the day.

Baby shower games should be at the top of the list to encourage participation from moms, dads, and the little ones at the party. Take lots of photos by digital camera so you can send out a lot of mementos after the party. Decide on a cook-out theme and encourage everyone to bring a staple item such as ketchup or mustard or chips, something really easy which requires no thought or planning . After all, the mom-to-be is your guest but so are her guests to the baby shower! You don't want them to feel uncomfortable because they had to make a casserole to attend the cook-out and baby shower.

The baby shower cook-out is a unique idea to help encourage participation from everyone. It also allows the new dad to begin to get acquainted with other children and enables them to see what it's going to be like as a family unit verses the life of a young couple without any responsibilities. It's a great time to introduce your husband to the significant others of old friends he may not have known very well. It is time to reacquaint everyone over a great reason to throw a party—when a baby is on the way!
